PHP Developer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

The application developer will be creating and documenting complex web-based applications in PHP and MySQL following established standards and methodologies, primarily in a Linux environment. The developer will also be responsible for fully documenting her work both in the code (following phpDoc format) and, where necessary, in technical and user documentation manuals.

Need-to-have Qualifications:

• Experience in assessing functional project requirements and translating them into technical development projects which you can then code.
• Must be comfortable hand-coding PHP, SQL queries, Javascript, HTML and CSS. Experience with PEAR and phpDoc a bonus.
• Must be strong at writing and optimizing MySQL queries, as well as designing and optimizing MySQL database schemas. Experience with other RDBMS a definite bonus.
• Experience developing PHP sites running under Apache for Linux is a must. We run Mac, Linux and Windows.
• Experience with Bugzilla, Trac, CVS and/or Subversion
  

• Experience installing and maintaining Linux-based web and database servers
• At least two years' experience developing object-oriented, database-driven PHP web applications in a corporate environment.
• Capable of developing PHP-driven web sites that work well with Internet Explorer (PC), Firefox/Mozilla (Mac, PC), and Safari Mac. Must have a general understanding of cross-platform, cross-browser compatibility issues.
• Experience with search engine optimization is an asset.
• Dedication to delivering projects within time requirements while adhering to established quality and documentation standards.
• Excellent English and French verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt to change quickly and with ease.
